The Mad Meeple, created in 2013 by Cory Bezeau and Andrew Scholl, is an expression of our love for the hobby of Board Gaming. Cory is a self-employed book-keeper and an employee of the Giddy Goblin in Hanover, ON Canada; Andrew is a Counselor with Community Living and an Interim-Pastor. You can read on to find out more about them both.

I am happily married to my wife of +15 years and we have produced three wonderful children (2 young men and 1 little princess) who I am raising in the ways of geekdom. I am a bookkeeper by day and work at the Giddy Goblin board game store by night. I love to play board games with my children or with one of the gaming groups in my area.
Although I played games as a kid with my sister, they were typically of the Milton Bradley variety like Sorry, Clue, Monopoly and connect four. In college, I got into Risk very heavy which lead to a burn out due, in most part, to the high degree of luck found in the combat of risk or in my case the unluckiness of the dice results. In 2004, I bought a copy of Attack and it's expansion. While I found the game clunky and rule book horrible to follow, it re-lit the fire within. Shortly thereafter, I discovered a little game called Carcassonne which lead to Ticket to Ride and Settlers of Catan over the next few years. This lead to my rediscovery of board gaming as a hobby and passion. This eventually lead to recording this podcast with my good friend Andrew.
I love medium to heavy weight board games. I prefer good solid mechanics over good involved theme but I am always on the hunt for a game that has both. I have a man crush on Stefan Feld and his games.

I am a Counselor who works with people with Intellectual disabilities full-time in Meaford, ON.
My earliest taste of gaming beyond monopoly was the old Mattel Dungeons and Dragons computer Labyrinth game that my brother bought me back in 1980 .. it was played alot, before being tossed into the garbage for being D&D (I will forever blame Tom Hanks! lol). In the late '90's I was heavily involved in miniature gaming, collecting/playing Mage Knight from Wizkids, then it was Heroclix, then it was Mechwarrior. I was collecting everything in these lines.
Board Gaming collecting/playing/obsessing really didn't start until I met Cory, and I picked up my first (new) board game ... Smallworld. Since that day, I have been enjoying the board gaming hobby and it's community ever since, and watching my gaming collection grow with my passion.
